Isabelline Wheatear, Steller´s Eider and Black Kite with strollers. 2.5.2020

What a morning with my kids.
We first went to Viikki fields to see the Isabelline Wheatear with strollers. Bird was very showy and easy to watch. Even got some decent pictures of it this time. Vilma and Julius were more interested about horses and cows near by, but we all had good time. It was nice to see some old friends like Jari Linjala, Pekka Komi, Matti Rekilä, Iira Teräspuro and my old teacher Leo Wallinmaa.

Isabelline Wheatear.

This time on a wire.

Almost sharp picture.

Handsome bird.
Blue-headed Yellow Wagtail. Motacila flava thunbergi.

Kids and cow. Julius was super thrilled of those.

After the fields we drove to Kallvik where Steller´s Eider was found yesterday. It was quite long walk for Vilma and I had to promise some reward if she can make the trip. Finally we arrived to the place and there was lots of twitchers around. Also here again was nice to see some familiar people like Pertti Uusivuori, Tuula Granroth etc.
While I was watching the Eider someone told something about Black Kite. Soon Otso Häärä found the bird flying above the sea. It was quite easy to find and I was really happy.

Cape Kallvik. Second islet in the middle was the Eider place. Black Kite migrated right hand side from there.

At this point Julius wanted to leave and Vilma had her own adventure somewhere too near of the water, so I thought that it is better to leave. We had to walk back and Vilma was moaning the whole time that her feet won´t move or she is too tired or something like that.. Thank god I didn´t have to carry her. On our way I heard singing Willow Warbler to my year list. Spring is here!
Thanks for the company Vilma and Julius. More tomorrow.
